Counseling available for community after RCI incident

The Paint Valley Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health (ADAMH) Services Board and Scioto Paint Valley Mental Health Center (SPVMHC) would like to recognize all of the first responders and the staff of Adena Health System for all of their efforts in response to today’s event at Ross Correctional Institution.  We wish to thank them for their containment of the hazardous substance and the excellent care that they provided to the exposed individuals.

According to Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), being involved in a traumatic experience has lasting adverse effects on the individual’s functioning and mental, physical, social, emotional or spiritual well-being.  The ADAMH Board and SPVMHC would like to offer assistance to anyone needing help processing today’s event at the Ross Correctional Institution.

Penny Dehner, ADAMH Executive Director stated, “Dealing with trauma can be very difficult, whether you were directly involved in the event as a first responder, or concerned family member or friend.  We want to make sure that everyone has a chance to get the help that they need.”

“Please reach out to us for any counseling needs you may have, individual counseling, or group sessions at your location can be provided.  Crisis services are also available at all county clinics.” Stated Matt Coy, Interim Executive Director, SPVMHC.  For services contact one of the following agencies:
